If anything I have said here is wrong, I'm sure you'll be straight onto the M.E.N. to set them straight to? No? Thought not. My blog piece sets out the story as reported elsewhere, but in my own words. Frankly I'm amazed you'd entertain defending Manchester City Council's cavalier attitude (that £420,000 is just "a few thousands pounds"), but then Labour-councils cannot be trusted when it comes to local or national economics. Proof of that in Salford is staring us in the face: An ice rink and Proms event that cost us hundreds of thousands of pounds and the promise of a 0% council tax rise before opposition councillors have had chance to examine the budget and before the Police & Fire have announced their own precepts. The nine Boroughs Cllr Shannon described as "rich" include three Lib Dem Councils and there was a dispute about liabilty.
